A conference on ASEAN’s strategic tourism plan for 2016-2025 and Vietnam’s integration into the regional tourism industry was held on March 30th 2016 in Hanoi with the attendance of travel agents and experts. Vietnam, as discussed in the conference, has many strong points to help its tourism grow, including natural beauty, a wide variety of destinations and affordable services.

The conference was organized by Vietnam Administration of Tourism (VNAT), aiming to devise a strategic plan for the development of tourism in ASEAN, define Vietnam’s role in the developing regional tourism and discuss how the country can better integrate with the ASEAN tourism market. Vietnam has many advantages such as natural beauty, diversity of tourist destinations, and cheap and friendly service, which allow us to make the national tourism industry grow steadily and rapidly.
Mr. Tran Phu Cuong, deputy director of VNAT’s International Co-operation Department, said: “By 2025, ASEAN will be a quality tourism destination offering a unique, diverse ASEAN experience, and will be committed to responsible, sustainable, inclusive and balanced tourism development, so as to contribute significantly to the socio-economic well-being of ASEAN people.” He expressed the necessity of completing and continuing existing initiatives, such as the marketing of ASEAN as a single destination and the implementation of the region’s tourism standards.
Deputy Director Cuong said this year, Vietnam will continue the implementation of the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP); adopt new and innovative approaches to destination and product development and marketing; and work with other agencies to influence connectivity, investment, safety and security, as well as natural and cultural heritage conservation.
